Within this school playground setting we find what could be considered to be the most evident exemplification of what desire lines truly mean. Children being guided primarily and foremost by desire; the longing, the yearning… the instant need to satisfy their craving. It’s an impulse and as such it becomes pure, free of any secondary influence.
Their minds new and learning are guided by curiosity, and little is found of what adults grow to understand as instruction and command; the urge to be directive has not yet been planted within them.
Yet within this context there is still order, as the younglings are guided by their superiors. We therefore discover the established controlled sections in the zone. The asphalt sections of the school become the land of the ruled; it is in this area that you are subjugated by higher power and authority. Your attitude and posture need to be adept; here you must keep your composure.
But their carefree spirits prevail and more often than not, even within the ordered areas, the children make their way from one place to another as they please.
Seemingly in a magical manner, as soon as any one word referencing autonomy is avowed, the kids disperse, as if they were ink on water. To some, their movements appear predictable, yet it is merely an inept reaction, an illusion we create in order to satisfy our need to organize things. Their actions change in an instant, wishes for these children not always reaching a requirement to be fulfilled seen that they are easily replaced by newer whims.
